Riverhouse Barn Arts Centre and The RC Sherriff Trust
in association with Birds’s Eye View, Elmbridge Borough Council and the BFI
welcomes submissions for their.....Silent Film Competition
Are you a budding film maker? Do you have access to a film camera & editing
facilities? Would you like to see your silent film screened in the Walton Cinema?
On May 25th and 26th 2012 Riverhouse Barn Arts Centre will be screening ‘Helen of
Four Gates’ one of the earliest feature films from the silent movie genre. This
screening forms part of a weekend packed with screenings, live music performance,
workshops, talks along with an exhibition of the life and work of local,
film producer Cecil Hepworth; one of the pioneering film producers of the
20th Century.We are taking submissions from anyone aged 10 and above. There
will be an adult category (16+ years) and a young person’s category (10-15yrs).
The film should last no longer than 5 minutes and the theme for your silent
film is ‘The Homecoming’

The deadline for finished submissions
in DVD format is April 16th 2012.
The two runners up will have their films exhibited in the Robert Phillips Gallery
here at Riverhouse for 3 weeks. The Winning films will be screened as shorts
prior to the main screening of Hepworth’s silent film ‘Helen of Four Gates’
to an audience of 200 people at The Everyman Cinema in Walton on Thames.
The Winning Filmmakers will also receive special prizes donated by the BFI.
The Elysian Quartet have been commissioned to create a part improvised score
to be played alongside Helen of Four Gates and they will be performing live
at the screening. If you would like your school/club/society to take part, or
